Trust the courts: about the first achievements of the international project “Court, citizens, society, state” on “Channel 7”, the TV channel.

The first achievements of the project, which should restore trust in the courts, were discussed February 1, 2019 at the general meeting of judges of Odessa region.

The project is implemented in accordance with the international experience: the implementation process in pilot courts is controlled by experts from the Netherlands. We are talking about solving those problematic issues that are not regulated by the procedure code and do not require amendments to it.

“There are a lot of issues that are resolved in different ways, by different judges in different courts. This creates an effect of uncertainty, unpredictability, and can cause criticism from both attorneys and clients,” said Andrey Kostin, the Deputy Chairman of the Bar Council.

“The essence of the methods is that it is the judges who independently have the opportunity to develop these guidelines in order to implement them in the courts. Also, an important aspect is that they are responsible for these guidelines themselves: that is, they set them themselves, they are the ones responsible,” said Esther De Roy, Deputy President of Amsterdam District Court.

Izmail District Court, Malinovsky District Court and the Appellate Court were chosen as pilot courts. If the pilot is successful, it will be implemented throughout the whole Ukraine.
